Roughnecks picks from the 2006 Entry draft
Last night was the 2006 NLL Entry and College draft and it was held at the famed Madison Square Gardens in New York. While it wasn’t an overly publicized event in comparison to the NFL of NHL drafts usually are, there was decent media coverage and a live broadcast from the B2 Network.
During the draft the Calgary Roughnecks ended up drafting three players in total, Kyle Wailes, Luke Hinton and Jordan Sealock. The players were picked 9th, 14th and 60th respectively and only one was from Alberta — Jordan Sealock — while Wailes came from Brown University and Hinton from Victoria, BC.
Kyle Wailes, while playing for the Brown University Bears, is a transition player who led the Bears in scoring in 2005 with 35 total points including 5 goals and 30 assists. Luke Hinton, who played for the Victoria Jr A Shamrocks racked up 15 points (5 goals and 10 assists) during the 2006 regular season. He also managed to get 1 goal and 3 assists during the 2006 playoffs with the same team. The final draft pick, Jordan Sealock, played with the Calgary Jr A Raiders for the 2006 season and was one of three Alberta boys drafted this year.
