Jeff Dowling leaves the Roughnecks

Yesterday the official Calgary Roughnecks website broke the news that Assistant Coach Jeff Dowling has left the Roughnecks organization. Dowling had been with the Calgary Roughnecks for the last three seasons serving as the Assistant Coach specializing in defense.

During his time with the Roughnecks, Dowling leaves with a record of 23 wins and 17 losses — with 3 playoff wins and 2 playoff losses.

“It has been a great three years and I have enjoyed my time in Calgary and have had the privilege of coaching one of the top teams in the NLL,” stated Jeff Dowling. “I have made a lot of friends during my time in Calgary and will cherish every moment spent with the Roughnecks and wish them all the best in the future.”

With the current state of affairs in the east — recent coach firings and new expansion teams — it’s almost a given that the Ontario native will be picked up by a team closer to home. My guess is that Dowling will take a step up in the coaching world and take a position with either the Chicago Shamrox or New York.
