No more LacrosseTV

It seems that LacrosseTV is closing up shop starting December 1st. In an email sent out to subscribers by itvn, the company that offered the LacrosseTV network, they apologize for the “inconvenience” that they may have caused. In an attempt to keep, what I’m sure will be a slew of former subscribers, itvn is offering two free months worth of their current line-up of services as a consolation.

Unfortunately for us lacrosse fans this is no consolation since LacrosseTV was the only way some fans were able to watch any games last year. With the season a little under a month away for most teams, the Canadian market still finds itself without television coverage.

Fans have been reassured by the NLL that the league is working hard on securing a deal. That little morsel of information is about all the league is willing to give out at this point though.

In the past I’ve commented on the television coverage of the NLL in Canada. With this latest announcement that LacrosseTV is no longer available it seems that the country providing a good majority of players to the NLL just keeps getting the short end of the stick and handing it directly to the fans.

How is it New York and Chicago can create franchises and the NLL can’t find TV coverage??

Your guess is as good as mine.

Part of the problem is NHL hockey. The NHL is just getting off of their holiday break when the NLL season starts and most networks would rather deal with NHL money than the NLL it seems.

In Canada the NLL has gone through a couple of the sports networks already — as I mentioned in the link in the last paragraph.

Maybe, as unlikely as it sounds, B2 gives them a better kickback. I highly doubt it though.
