Calgary Fire Department and Calgary Roughnecks Teaming Up

As anyone that arrived before game time for the home opening game this year knows, the Calgary Fire Department and Calgary Roughnecks are teaming up to bring fire safety and awareness to the youngsters. The goal of the program is to create fire safety awareness through a content for children under the age of 12. Once the contest is complete, around the end of the lacrosse season, the prizes will be awarded.

Entering the contest is simple, just go to the contest page on the Roughnecks website and look for the “Safety Drills”. With the help of family members children can complete each safety drill and send an email detailing their experience.

At the end of the contest one lucky winner will become a Deputy Fire Chief for a day. There are other prizes as well including prize packs and Roughneck ticket discounts.

I think this is a great idea. I remember going to Safety City as a kid and it was a blast. Sure, the focus was to teach safety rules to us kids but it was done in a fun way. My brother, sister and I loved going. To me having the fire department team up with the Roughnecks will add that extra fun element into fire safety.

Last night the second “Safety Drill” was added to the contest. So anyone with children under the age of 12 be sure to check out the contest and get cracking on those drills.

    Hi,

    Great blog!

I have a blog going as well (with another lax fan) but not specific to any one team. You’ll find some great interviews with NLL players, personal stories and goings-on within various communities. Basically, I’m trying to support the game I love.

Can you add the link to your blogroll and we’ll return the favour?
