Updated 2008 Schedule

Now that the 2008 season is back on, the NLL has had to go back to the drawing board to rework the schedule — you know, since the owners were told to release their arena dates. It didn’t take too long for the new schedule to be released, given the circumstances. (more…)

Full 2008 NLL Schedule on GoNecksGo.com

Over the past week I’ve been tooling around with the schedule. It’s all finally come to the point where I’ve got the schedule at least to where it’s somewhat more manageable, and most definitely more useful for all of you. (more…)

Calgary Roughnecks 2008 Schedule

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned I was still working on the 2008 Calgary Roughnecks schedule. At the end of the day, I had a downloadable schedule and one set up on Google Calendar. After some thought, I decided that instead of looking for an easier way I would just put the time and effort into setting up the full 2008 NLL schedule on GoNecksGo.com. (more…)

It’s been a while

So, yeah, there has been a little neglect going on around these parts over the past year, unfortunately. I’ve been trying to find some other people that would like to contribute to the site but it’s been a little difficult (interested? Let me know via email). I’ve still got some great ideas on what I’d like to do with this site and I’m looking forward to finding the time to do them.

Meanwhile, I’ve updated the schedule page for the 2008 season. Right now there is a .ics file and a link to the Google Calendar for the schedule. I’m working on creating the .cvs file that all you Outlook/Entourage users need for your calendars.

New Feature: Photos

A Calgary Roughneck photo gallery has been a long time coming for GoNecksGo.com and it’s still not ready yet. I feel bad about that so I’m implementing a temporary fix as a way to promote fan photos of our beloved team.

Today I added the photos page of GoNecksGo.com for all to enjoy. Currently the images being shown are the most recent photos from the Calgary Roughnecks Flickr group on the photo sharing website Flickr.com. For now the six most recent photos in the group will be shown on GoNecksGo.com. You can find out more info on the photos page.

This is how photos will be displayed on the site until I can work out the best way to get a nice, friendly, and easy to use photo gallery going on GoNecksGo.com. If you’re not already a member of Flickr it’s dead simple to use and completely free to join — though you can pay for a pro membership if you upload a large number of images. So, what are you waiting for, get over to Flickr.com and join! Then join the Calgary Roughnecks Flickr group and start adding your pictures!

SportsNet will be Showing the NLL All-Star Game

Thanks to a tip from former Roughneck announcer Barks, it seems that SportsNet will be showing the NLL All-Star game this year. This is especially good news given that there has been only spotty TV coverage of any NLL game in Canada this year. While Barks feels that the SportsNet broadcast will only be a feed of the Versus broadcast, at least it’s better than watching the game on the B2 network (purchased download).

It should be also be mentioned that there is a tape delay in the east and the game will be shown Sunday morning, around 10am I believe. For those in the east that subscribe to SportsNet Pacific or West may still get to see the game live. The U.S. fans will have to wait until Sunday at 2:30pm to see the Versus coverage of the game though.

Be sure to tune in and cheer on your favorite players March 10th at 8pm MST/7pm Pacific.

Chat with Kurt Silcott, Live on NLL.com

This year the NLL has been hosting live chats with various personalities in the league. These chats, called ‘In the Crease’, are hosted on NLL.com and happen every Wednesday at 9pm EST.

Today’s chat will be with Roughneck General Manager Kurt Silcott. This could prove to be an interesting chat as many fans are in the hate phase of their love-hate relationship with Silcott after last weeks firing of Head Coach Chris Hall. If you’d like to take part in tonight’s chat, log in at http://nll.com/stats.php?ps=http://www.nll.com/chat—no password or registration is required—and feel free to watch or participate by asking some questions.

With the high level of emotion surrounding the Calgary Roughnecks I would only ask that anyone participating in tonight’s chat please keep their questions civil. If everyone can act and behave like adults while still asking the questions they want answers to this chat will be a success.

Lacrosse featured on The Rick Mercer Report

Tonight, January 30th, 2007 Canadian funny man Rick Mercer will be visiting the Toronto Rock and featuring our national sport, Lacrosse. Apparently he gets right into the thick of things and don’s a full set of Lacrosse gear while he attends one of the Rock practices.

Rick’s show, The Rick Mercer Report, airs at 8pm tonight on CBC.

A brief history of the Calgary Roughnecks

A short while ago, I met Kent Ridley on an online forum. We exchanged a few messages and he mentioned he was writing a history of the Calgary Roughnecks. The website he was going to post these articles on unfortunately ended up shutting down. Rids, as he’s more commonly known, asked if I would like to publish them on GoNecksGo.com and I was more than happy to oblige. Now, on with “A brief history of the Calgary Roughnecks”.
